I am a self-taught artist and was born and grew up in Maryborough, Queensland, Australia and currently live in Caboolture, Qld.
I discovered I had a natural talent for art at around 19 years of age, when I decided to draw a portrait of a celebrity one night, which came as a big surprise.
I have always been more drawn to portraiture, but enjoy doing various subjects and trying different materials and other types of art.
My artwork can be inspired by admiration or affection for the subject and/or the universal issues they represent, through social inequality and my interest in the human psyche and human condition.
"Cassy's expressive figurative work resonates a visual narrative revealing the invisible within the visible. The spiritual artistic journey she portrays, gives empathetic interpretations of the sensitive inner character of her subjects, while capturing their inner glow and beauty.
Her 'innocence' (Paris Jackson) portrait generates a sense of symbolism, while reflecting an eternal universal message.
Her 'Unholy Possession' (Anthony Hopkins) portrait illustrates her vision of capturing the impalpable, seizing the essence of the emotional and physical experience.
The emotive self-portrait of 'Mindbleeding' reveals the essential spirit of her subjects."
‘Mindbleeding’, self-portrait, acrylic on board, 2012.
6th place, American Art Awards, 2012.
“To be loved and held with pride
Not shoved and pushed aside
To be accepted and cherished
Not rejected and left perished
To take my palm that’s been shaken
Feel calm and let my senses awaken”
~ Cassy Allsworth, 2009.
